Not really - TR polls the radio once a second - and as long as it
takes less than a second to get the data, there isn't any difference
that you will see.
As I remember, the typical message length is about 8 or 10 bytes.
At 1200 baud, it takes about 10 ms / character to send, so you are
well under a second.
