Advice from many seemed to center on old dictating machine foot-switches.
I didn't find a real oldie, but did come up with one from a recent Philips
machine that seems to have three switches built in - left, right and
center. Only 3 conductors on the plug, so I suspect it'll turn out to be
left, right and both, but the size and weight are about right.
