I have had a couple of people telling me that they are having difficulty
with the new version of the manual, in that ligatured characters (in
particular "fi") are not displaying or printing properly. ("fi" displays as
the permille character.)
Everything works fine here (of course), so I have a couple of questions
that maybe some of you could respond to privately (i.e., don't let's
clutter the reflector with this).
1. Is there anyone running Acrobat 4.0 who does NOT see the problem?
2. What about Acrobat 3.0? Is there still a problem in that version?
3. Are all ligatures affected, or just "fi"? (The following sequences are
ligatured: fi, fl, ff, ffi, ffl.)
Acrobat 4.0 is definitely broken in some respects (you should have seen
what a mess it made of the manual). I had to revert to 3.0 to get anything
usable at all, so I'm wondering if this is just another 4.0 problem.
Probably I'll get a flood of responses, so please don't take it personally
if I don't respond. I'm just looking for information so I can decide what's
the best thing to do. I'll take all the ligatures out if I can't find a way
to fix it for everyone.
I hate it when things like this happen....
