I 've found that during the year, it's better to receive envelopes with
pictures of dead
presidents, deities, past/present political leaders, etc in lieu of cute 3x5
postcards with printing on it. The $ in the log is a simple reminder to mail
those envelopes out to the appropriate individuals. It sort of guarantees
that they'll hear you in the next pileup.
