Hi Phil,
Seems to me it's a function of where in the callsign the "?" appears. I
usually put the "?" in to replace the character(s) that I don't have or am
not sure about. In that case, I'd prefer to leave it the way it is...
Also if I'm the S&P'ing station, I like to have a confirmation that my call
is correct (maybe that's just because the "HI" often comes out as HE or SI)
and I don't know what the running stn is uncertain about if the "?" is at
the end.
But I certainly can see the value of just gg to the normal end of qso
routine if (and only if) the "?" is the last character.
