TWIMC (to whom it may concern)
I need some help which will hopefully save me a bunch of time---
Just got and started to use V5.96 (Used 4.05 for a few months)
First of all -- kudos to you Tree-- the Kenwood interface (TS940)
works flawlessly---truly plug and play. and its cool---
Now on the trmaster issue--
I've tried several times to create a trmaster.dta from the
NAMES.ASC file on the distribution disk. On the first pass using
the appropriate utility in post, the call signs are picked up just
fine. However when I try to add names using the appropriate part of
utility (and setting the name overwrite flag to TRUE) the program
appears to work OK and then continues to cycle through all the same
stages again and again with no end in sight. The only solution is
the old CTRL/ALT/DEL.
So the question is has anyone worked out a cookbook approach that
works.?? I do feel somewhat frustrated by what seem like lots of
questions and not many answers.
Second question: I also want to add callsigns and other data from
my master logging program WJ2O. There are about 1500 Q's and
probably about 1200 unique calls. Am I right in understanding that
what I need to have is an ascii file from that program with calls
in one column and names in a second (and that's all in the file)?
Or is it possible to create a file that has for example three
columns (calls, names, and QTH's) and then load both into trmaster
one field at a time? If so how do I tell post which column in
which?
Just a couple of quick questions on the radio interface as well---
When I QSY the VFO's or the RIT with the computer there is a beep
that occurs with every change in frequency--- is this instigated by
TRLOG or the TS940 and does anyone know how to turn it off?
When I set the B VFO for split, there seems to be a long delay (on
the order of several seconds) from the time I hit return until the
VFO changes---- the computer is a 286 laptop (not the fastest
machine in the world). Is the delay due to the processing speed
(the radio baud rate is at 4800) or is there some way to speed it
up via software?
Great program---glad I upgraded!!!!
