Larry,
I got the DTA file to work, but I can also still reliably make it not work.
Here is the non-functional sequence:
POST
U-N-F to make ASCII from NAMES (X to DOS confirms calls and names in ASC).
U-E-B to build TRMASTER.DTA from TRMASTER.ASC
U-E-E shows DTA containing no names. (X to DOS confirms only calls in ASC).
What it looks like is that the U-E-B sequence to build TRMASTER.DTA from
TRMASTER.ASC expects to see an "=N" (my guess) in the ASC file to key the name.
I get the procedure to work using the U-N-F-N sequence, provided the ASCII file
from NAMES was exported to a file other than TRMASTER.ASC. Using TRMASTER.ASC
as the export file in this case will hang/crash POST in U-N-E (view names). I
called the file NAMES.ASC (surprise) and all is now well.
