Fantastic job by John, W4IX and what's with John and Kevan, N4XL getting
new radios??? Hate to think what they're going to do with "real" rigs...I
want one too-:)

Comments:
14 hours of contest radio makes for a happy camper. Saturday commitments
wiped
out a full effort so I was quite casual and went to bed at midnight. I am
still
baffled by the summer/seasonal variations for propagation. I started on 15
meters and S&P'd the Europe stations and when I went to 20 meters there was
no DX. So ran some 1 & 3 pointers stateside. 10 meters produced 10 mults
from the South and I worked nothing from EU; although I heard a couple of
the
HQ stations while pointed to SA. When I turned to EU, nothing, nor did they
hear me on the skewed path. Later 20 became active and I stayed there
until I
went to 40 meters to grab some mults. Otherwise, I ran 3 pointers on 20
meters.
One of the things I remember was working 6Y3M & 9Y4HQ. My location is too
close and I have missed them in several contests as their signals seem to
pass
me by. Heard no Asia but did get KH, VK and ZL.
Even though this seems like cw contest, I did mange to work 39 of the WTRC
stations. And a nifty grab at the end of the contest was UA0XAK calling me
with
the last mult of the contest. Lastly, I tried running EU at 6:15 am Sunday
and
was surprised that several came back. I've never worked Europe that early
on 20
meters.
Thanks to the contest sponsors, those fantastic WRTC ops and everyone for
the
QSO's.
Best - Jere
