Wasn't that tried a few years back and was an abysmal failure? ARRL tried
to change the ARRLDX into the CQWW by allowing everyone to work everyone
more or less as I recall. It lasted a year or two until they came to their
senses. Why on earth would they want to change the ARRLDX into CQWW???
ARRLDX has its own vibe and is fine as is. IMO.
As far as "leveling the playing field goes": it will never happen. CQ
tried that by having 2 and 3 point countries and it doesn't work. Same with
IARU and WPX. No matter the scoring, someone will always have a geographic
advantage. Changing the scoring may change *who* has the advantage, or it
may change the size of the advantage, but the field can never be level. The
closest we can come is WARC with "spec" stations.
