Please note my August 18 e-mail to Laura Smith at FCC concerning revoking or
opposing the renewals of these licenses of convicted sex offender felons. They
will probably not attempt to renew their licenses but I am intent on removing
them from our ranks. FCC regs prohibit copying or forwarding Ms. Smith's
response, but the FCC is now aware of these criminal convictions.

Subject: Renewal of Licences - felons
Is there a procedure to oppose a renewal application of an amateur that has
been convicted of a felony?
Edward M. Ferguson - N4YTR - is due to expire on April 10, 2010. Mr. Ferguson
is currently serving concurrent 20 year sentences for Sexual Exploitation and
Child Molestation at Central State Prison in Georgia . He has also completed
12 month sentences for sexual battery and miscellanous sexual offenses.
I know Mr. Ferguson personally and can attest to the fact that he was involved
in Boy Scouts, incorporating Amateur Radio. This gave him access to
adolescents.
I do not know if he will attempt to renew his license, but in the event he
does, I would like to file in opposition.
Edward F. Meloan - WA4UYY - is a convicted felon serving a 78 year sentence at
Broad River in South Carolina for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Mr. Meloan's
license expires in 2014. I also know Mr. Meloan personally and I would
likewise desire to oppose any renewal.
Your advice is appreciated.
