Jeff,
The Bonus prizes were very well received in 2007, and would be a great feature
to continue in 2008!

We need a lot more in state participation, and anything you can do there would
be good.

I like the Aquarium tickets a lot.

GQP 2008 is April 12/13, see gqp.contesting.com !
Be well

Subject: [SECC] GQP Bonus Prizes

Is there any interest in having the GQP "Bonus Prizes" for 2008 ? If you
remember in 2007 we had some prizes we gave away for the top 5 out-of-state
entries. These were mostly products from Lane Packing. Gordon K4OD, made the
arrangements for purchasing and shipping these prizes since he lives near Fort
Valley.

I also wonder if there is interest in extending this to in state participation
to encourage activity ? The idea I had was to give away some prizes to events
that occur in Georgia. This program would be for in state entries only. Here
are some I picked off the top of my head and I looked up the cost . We could
probably come up with more ideas.

Atlanta Braves - 2 game tickets or gift card - $50
Georgia Aquarium - Premium Day Pass - $29.50 each
Stone Mountain Park - Attraction Pass $50 each
Calloway Gardens - $13 each
Calloway Gardens - Fantasy in Lights - $16.05 each

I also wanted to make a proposal on the plaque program. Maybe we can offer the
winner of a plaque the option of recieving a plaque OR in place of the plaque a
prize of equal value from the list
(in progress) above. If I remember right each plaque costs around $50 not
including shipping.

Another idea is to have a raffle. Each entry that submits a score gets one
entry per 100 QSO's. We could then raffle off the prizes we get donations to
purchase. To make this work we would need to get rid of some of the plaques and
use that money to purchase these prizes or get more donations to buy these
prizes.

Last year we only had about 5 SECC members throw in some $$ for the bonus
prizes. I am hoping there might be more interest for 2008 ?
