See the announcement below. W4AN, operating from the W8JI station, will
be myself, K4BAI, single op. Hope to work you all this weekend on 160M
from Tom's station. 73, John, K4BAI.

Hello Contesters, 160M addicts and Thrill Seekers everywhere,
In a few short nights the starting bell for the 11th running of
The Stew Perry TopBand DX Challenge will
be rung at the club station of The Boring Amateur Radio Club at 1500Z,
Dec 30, initiating this years competition.
There are simple to understand rules and other cool information that can
be reviewed about this tradition breaking
radio contest that can be found at:

http://www.jzap.com/k7rat/stew.html
This competition has a long history of having the contestants sponsor
plaques to honor
certain achievements in this epic TopBand struggle. The fearless and
intelligent Hams
listed below have suggested these categories and have ponied up the
paltry $50 to sponsor
these individual plaques. Review these stunning plaques and ask yourself
if you could do
any better. If you think so, simply burn me an e-mail suggesting the
category followed by
the $50 and you will join this august group of notorious all weather
contesters and luminaries
in supporting the most innovative RF slinging contest available to mortals.

The time grows short. It's time to put on serious clothing and go
put more wire up
somewhere as it's well recognized that copious wire helps the RF into
and out of your exciter
and receiver. The Boring Amateur Radio Club has a pictorial series that
illustrates the symbiotic
use of a very tall fir tree and wire. This won't help you right now
because it takes a fairly long
time to grow a very tall fir tree, so go do what you can.
Send in your Plaque sponsorship proposals and you can be included
in the next list of
distinguished and talented Hams, which will be spammed throughout our
universe on Stew Perry Eve.
We at The Boring Amateur Radio Club, believe that finding one's
own oxygen and nutrition sources
to be fun and necessary endeavors. In the same artery, we feel that
finding your own stations to work
during The Stew Perry TopBand Extravaganza is more fun than having
somebody else do it- so packet use
is discouraged unless you have a medical waiver signed by 3 medical
officers of The Club.
Get ready for The Stew... It's ready for You!
      73 and I remain,
       Lew W7EW/W7AT
