[SECC] Planned Phone SS Activity

Subject: [SECC] Planned Phone SS Activity

I have never liked phone operation. The total time I have operated HF phone
in my entire 36 years as a ham is probably less than 500 hours. Guess that
explains why I am such a pitiful phone contester. :-)

My point to this email is that I have found an aspect of Phone SS that I
actually enjoy. I like to try to work 80 sections in only 80 contacts. I
thought I had it last year, but I botched two of the exchanges and fell
short. That was easy to understand given the limitations of my antenna
system last year. This year I don't have that excuse (or limitation). :-)

After phone SS log submission last year there was some discussion about the
80 in 80 using only one band. I think that is what I want to try this year.
My question for the group is: Does anyone have a recommendation as to the
best band on which to try this? My current antenna system would enable me
to give it a good go on any band I chose (except 160 meters). I was
thinking that 40 meters would be the best band, but I am worried about the
night time broadcast interference. Any suggestions would certainly be
welcomed.

I will be listening and spotting any of you that I hear. Good luck to all!!

Rick
