My SO2R box is homebrew. I use Writelog and a PC with Windows 98se so all
the important stuff is on the parallel port. My ICOM 765s have internal
functions accessible via back panel DIN connectors.
I found a box the right size and shape. Then I installed connectors that
matched the equipment and accessories I have, and mounted a bunch of SPDT
and DPDT relays. I wire them up as needed to control the station the way I
want. Each individual function is not really complicated, but they do add
up to a pretty complex box, particularly with some of the audio switching
experiments I've tried -- although I'm back to a simple 3-position switch:
Left - Split - Right !
Why did I do it this way?
I came up with a set of functions and a sequence of operations to do SO2R in
way that fits my operating style and my own (apparently non-standard) logic.
No SO2R box operated exactly the way I wanted, so I had no choice but to
build a custom setup. And yes, I'm cheap and I know how to design and build
this stuff...
