Hello all:

I will be in Valdosta Tuesday and Wednesday for court. Will miss W4BQF
this trip since he has the flu. I will try to post claimed scores on
the reflector for last weekend's contests on Thursday, so please post or
send me your claimed scores by Wednesday night.

Thanks for any efforts to work us in FQP. We did work a few Ga stations
on CW, including NM2L, K4EA, and N4GG. We should have tried to move one
of you to SSB for the GA mult on SSB, since we worked no GA station on
that mode. We worked one station in Madison Co, AL (near Huntsville) on
SSB, but worked no AL stations on CW. Also worked SC on CW (W1WW), but
not on SSB. TN and NC were worked on both modes.

I have the claimed scores of K9MUG and KE4KWE in the SP DX RTTY Contest
and of K4BAI/M and N4GG in FQP.

Here is the initial claimed score of K4BAI/M, with KU8E and K4BAI
operating and driving:

1715 CW QSOs, 472 SSB QSOs, 75 CW mults, 45 SSB mults, 936,480 points in
20 hours of operation. We had hoped for 35 counties and got into 29 of
them. This total of 2187 QSOs exceeds the totals we had (in more
counties) in the 2003 and 2004 GQPs and exceeds the totals that K2UFT
and I had in GQP in 1999 if my memory is correct.

TS850S, Hustler tri-mount whip with the longer base section (guyed with
string), 100 watts, transverter for laptop computer and NA logging
program. Heil headset/mike. We traveled almost 1000 miles inside
Florida and about 350 miles getting to and from the FL line. Got about
5 3/4 hours sleep Saturday night. We were really tired when we got home
(about 10:30 PM Sunday for me and later than that for Jeff). All CW was
sent with the laptop and we also had band de-coding between the laptop
and the rig. We had some not too bad noise from the
computer/transverter/car engine. Power line noise was much worse in
places. Received CW sounded a bit funny due to the operation of the two
noise blankers. Not sure if SSB was affected by the noise blankers or
not. We worked some pretty good DX on 15, 20, and 40 CW and a little
(including several QSOs with LY3BA) on 20 SSB. We worked KH6DV on 15 CW
and I see from his posted score that he was QRP.

You will remember that this FQP was dedicated to the memory of Jim
White, K4OJ, who died in February at the age of 49. We worked his
mother, Ellen, W1YL/4, from at least two counties in FQP. We were able
to give Harry, PA3ARM (a big GQP supporter) a new GA county (Worth) on
the way to Florida. We worked him in several FL counties, but I haven't
yet figured out if they were new ones for him. I have his list of
counties needed at home.

I have received a message of thanks (last Friday) from Jerry, K5YAA, for
a GQP plaque from 2003 (that I sponsored), so those plaques are being
delivered. Hope Jere can give us an update on certificates soon.

Have a good week.

73,

John, K4BAI.
