My first ever rememberance of a tty machine was before I got my ticket. I
was a member of the local club up in Alliance Ohio and a OT had passed
away. We went over to help his widow unload his gear. We ended up with
the machine. It was a model 15. And it stayed with the club until I left
in 64 for the military.
Then about 71 or so I got into RTTY with the ARMY, using the Kleinschmidt
klunkers, model 98 and 76 if my memory serves me. Then into the Army mars
with some Hal equipment, 19s, 28asr, etc. Even had a stint with a antique
BC610 and a model 19 at another MARS station, I did a lot of volunteer
MARS stuff.
Didn't start playing ham rtty till the early 80s when a friend gave me his
model 19 setup. I eventually went on to the TRS80 and homebrew interface
and now into computers.
I too enjoy the mode a lot. Need to get on more often. Thanks for the
trip down memory lane.
