Hi Archie: We send QTCs and European stations receive them. If a lot
of stations are calling, I may not send QTCs early in the contest. It
is a lot easier to send them 10 at a time. So, I will often say "QRU"
when asked "QTC?" Maybe I will send "LATER." But "QRU" seems to be
pretty well understood. As long as the rate is good, you may want to
wait to send QTC until later. You don't have to send them at all. But
you can make more points by sending them and if you are a very active
station, you will run out of new European stations or the rate will drop
significantly, and the QTC feature will prevent boredom and make the
contest more enjoyable. Toward the end of the contest, I will be more
willing to send QTCs, so I don't get stuck with them still on the hook
when the contest is over or when I quit operating the contest.

73,

John.
