Subject: [SECC] Contests this weekend
Hello all:
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Weather is predicted to be nice
here. Band conditions have been exceptionally good for the past few
days.
Three contests that I noted this weekend:
1. IOTA - Islands on the Air Contest. 12 UTC Sat to 12 UTC Sunday.
This one will bring out a lot of activity, particularly in Europe, on CW
and SSB and there will be a lot of islands QRV. Please look for KU8E/M
on either St. Simons or Jekyll Island, GA. Exchange is call, RST and
serial number, plus the IOTA island number if you have one. Everyone
can work everyone else. So, non-island stations may work everyone too,
not just stations on an island. There is a 24 hour category and a 12
hour category. NA logging program covers this one. I will be QRV
probably for more than 12 hours.
2. Kentucky QSO Party. Saturday 16 UTC to Sunday 04 UTC. Frequencies:
CW: 3550, 7050, 14050, 21050, 28050. SSB: 3870, 7245, 14245, 21320,
28320. Count one point on SSB and 2 points on CW and for rovers
regardless of mode.
Multipliers are 121 Ky counties once per the contest plus special
station KY4KY. The NA logging program has a template for this that can
be downloaded from the KYQSO Party website. However, it won't give two
points for SSB rovers and won't county KY4KY as a multiplier, so you
will have to figure that change and edit your log before submission. CW
includes RTTY or PSK.
Exchange is Name and County for Ky stations and Name and SPC for others.
3. Flight of the Bumblebees: 17 to 21 UTC Sunday. Usual QRP
frequencies (3560, 7040, 14060, 21060, 28060). Stations who register
and agree to walk, bicycle, or boat to their portable designation are
the bumblebees. Everyone works everyone else. Power limit is 5 watts
output. Exchange is RST/SPC and bumblebee number or if not a bumblebee,
your power output.
73,
John, K4BAI.
