I learned Saturday morning that I would not be on the air for four of the
first five hours of the contest. I knew that I would not have a shot at my
previous scores so I did not concentrate on the contest as much as I would
have otherwise.
Where the heck was NNY? My only missed section, probably because I slept
more Saturday night than I normally would. I finished the contest with the
TV going, watching the World Series and calling CQSS -- multi tasking at
its best!
I thought conditions were excellent. I did not work the second radio as
much as I should have but without it I would surely have missed VE9 late in
the contest. I heard VO1MP and VY1JA several times calling CQ on the high
bands with few takers.
It's always fun to find SECC members on the bands, and I very much
appreciate the members who get on the air to hand out QSOs toward the end
of the contest. Thanks to WA4TT for his #39 late Sunday! And to SEDXC
prez K4PI for his #8.
My final five sections needed, and the stations I worked were, in order:
WY WC7S
ND WB0O
Mar VE9DX
DE W3PP
NNY ????
