I made about 260 QSOs CW-only low power in the IARU contest. Had to =
operate low power -- the Alpha went "pop" when I turned it on. (I think =
it's just the low voltage power supply. If it's worse, I'll personally =
deliver it to the new Alpha company in two weeks when I go to CO!)
Except for mid-day absorption that was as bad as I've ever experienced, =
conditions seemed excellent for summer time. 15 and 20 were open =
somewhere all night, 40 was open early with good signals and the noise =
was low enough to get a bunch of QSOs on 80 and 160. 10 wasn't very =
good for DX, but that's not a surprise.
I didn't crank up the tower to full height -- 40+ ft. for the X9 and =
about 50 ft. for the 40M dipole. Also got a chance to evaluate a new =
160/80 DXpedition antenna I'm working on -- worked just fine -- a couple =
Europeans and a few West Coast on 80, out to 1000 miles or more on 160.=20
Hope to get the amp fixed for GQP...!
