It's one year since I released the first Windows text-mode
version of SD, and it's only now that I consider the
conversion to be reasonably complete.
I know that the process has been painful for many users, and
that some of you have preferred to stay with the DOS programs.
However, I believe that the Windows implementation is now
superior to DOS, with the sole exception of the internal CW
keyer - if it's erratic on your PC, you'll need WinKey. Even
if your CW is not erratic, you might want WinKey anyway as it
integrates SD with external paddles, and lets you change
speed - as messages are being sent.
If you've not tried the latest version of SD, please do so
and let me know what you think. Here's one thing to keep
in mind. If data entry seems slow on your PC, try the
PRIORITY command. It toggles between Priority level 0 and 1,
and one or other should suit your PC.
Let me know if you feel there is anything that SD/DOS does
better than the present Windows version of SD (10.25), and
this applies equally to SDI, SDV and SDX.

Paul EI5DI
