Yes, the USB port provides rig control (serial port) and an audio device. You

run AFSK or other audio digital modes without any more interface.

FSK is through the 13 pin connector.

No, FSK or DATA modes have a smaller selection of available filter widths,
compared
say to CW. And some noise reduction and other features are different or not
available.
But, I've never found it to be a big problem or overly limited my operating.
