Operating split is no different for CW, SSB or RTTY.  I do it the same way in
all modes.  RTTY, of course, requires at least one decoder on each audio
stream, main and second receiver.  This is the part where some people have
problems, but it is independent of basic split operation.

Split has many uses beyond working a split DX operation.  In contests it allows
running on one receiver while interleaving S&P QSOs on the other receiver.  Or,
the second receiver can monitor a competitor's run.  If the two receivers are
tuned to the same frequency, then more decoders are available for diversity.

Once split operation is understood and setup, lots of uses will be found for it.
