To give the definitive answer as to how I view the use of the cluster is as
follows:-

Passive use is perfectly acceptable.
Active posting of spots only when in S&P.
Active posting of spots when running a frequency is self-spotting.

Whilst there is no mention of anything to do with the use of the cluster in the
rules, the contest predating the cluster by many many years, it doesn't mean we
don't all know what is a fair and level playing field. This is a gentlemanly
hobby and by entering any BARTG contest, I and the BARTG committee expect you
to play by the unwritten rules. You know what is fair and what is stretching
the definition of fairness to the limit. OK there are those who do, and if I
discover their efforts they will be banned from BARTG contests for as long as I
am contest manageress. In this I am the final authority with no possible appeal
system unlike other competitions you may enter.

So with that may I wish you a great contest this weekend with perfect
propagation, perfectly behaved station and records bag of QSOs in the log. Oh
don't forget to use the right setup for your chosen software.

Thanks Phil. Hopefully we’ll get some European openings from the west coast.

Ken and the group,

You've probably already had direct answers, but just in case you have not....

The simple answer is YES, you can use the cluster. If the rules do not mention
it, then you can assume that the use of it is OK.

Just no self-spotting, or asking others to spot you.
