However the point I think you are making is that 2Tone does not send a
letter shift after a space character so "599 ABC" there is no letters shift
before the A as space character is treated as a letter shift. This would not
be compatible within someone who has not turned on USOS on MMTTY.
Why not?
I think a letters character SHOULD be generated before the A in the above
example since it's a letter following a number.
That way ALL decoders will decode it properly weather or not they have USOS
turned on or not.
Please explain why this doesn't make sense... Anyone....

Did you notice my deliberate error? Last paragraph should read:
So with USOS off 599 WA WA would decode as 599 2- 2-. 2- being the figs
shift of WA. Simple way to overcome this would be to send 599WA WA. With no
space after the 599 a letter shift would be sent before WA.

Jim
2Tone has USOS on for receive and transmit. There is no option to turn it
off. My design philosophy is to make 2Tone human interface as simple as
possible.
2Tone's current TX behaviour for all sound card modes and FSK via COM port
is:
At TX start a letter shift then the shift character required for the
first printing character
If no character to send, sends current shift state (diddles)
Space character is treated as a letters shift character.
A shift character is always sent at the start of a new line.
A change of character case, e.g. " 599ABC ", then a shift character is
sent before the 5 and between the 9 and A.
However the point I think you are making is that 2Tone does not send a
letter shift after a space character so "599 ABC" there is no letters shift
before the A as space character is treated as a letter shift. This would not

Subject: [RTTY] USOS Transmitting Again
I thought that 2-Tone automatically had USOS on transmit and tit was not
changeable. Does it?
My report was 599 WA WA. When I changed it to 599 WA-WA it seemed to stop
getting resend requests. I have always used 599 WA WA.
I got many reports from stations that I was sending 2- for WA in the RTTY
roundup. This is the first time I had this happen.
I used 2-Tone in 5KHz AFSK mode to a converter to FSK to my IC7600 and
IC7410.
Ideas?
Thanks
