I've always wondered about the same thing, Gary: they're having lots of fun now; but if (hopefully not "when") that 11708 monster gets approved... the fun will be over. Big time!

We MUST keep fighting this thing. And we should watch other things too: I saw in the June QST issue that "they" all of a sudden don't want to call us emergency communicators; but rather "public servants". OK, semantics; but... really? There's a big difference, when it comes to the public's view of that term. What the heck is going on in Newington??

Right you are Mike, the W1AW/n operation is a stroke of genius by somebody. But try to imagine snagging a W1AW/n station on CW, RTTY or PSK should RM-11798 become the law of the land. The folks running PACTOR IV, to have their cold beer and and other adult beverages waiting for them at the dock when they berth their yachts, would completely obliterate these band segments on multiple bands simultaneously! Sort of takes the joy out of it!

Not to bash the ARRL........

Everyone understands why we are having the 100 year ARRL celebration right?

Just think of all the new awards that people will be applying for and
all the LOTW credits.

I have had an absolute blast running W1AW/0. Some of the best rate ever!

This is marketing genius. Whoever thought of it should be congratulated!

Today I received an email appeal to donate to the ARRL 2nd Century Campaign.................

Toward the bottom of the email is an email link to contact Mary M. Hobart, K1MMH, ARRL Chief Development Officer at 860-594-0397 or <mailto:mhobart@arrl.org>mhobart@arrl.org regarding the campaign.

I 'replied' NO to Ms Hobart and pasted the NO-RM11708 badge image into the reply and told Ms Hobart that is the consequence of the ARRL's RM-11708 effort.

They seem to be driven by money, so why not tell them why I choose NOT to contribute to their 2nd Century.
