Yup, that can be a problem. Bully operators. I haven't experienced that myself (just how many KØ's are going to generate a huge pile up?), but I did listen to a SSB pile up a while back. There was an insistent caller, like you mentioned, and the DX finally acknowledged him. But he told him something to the effect "You sir, your call sign is no where close to what I was asking for. You are NOT in my log today. Try again tomorrow." To which the bully station went away. I really enjoyed listening to that exchange, and I wish I could remember which DX station did that! I don't.

thr problem is, the calling statsion DO NOT cooperate.....even when they have a full
call, like WZ1ABC and they send it at the beginning and the end of the excahnge,
someone like AB6XYZ will keep calling and calling....I’m not sure where that
habit started, but someone in this email thread is guilty of it....copied his call
over and over again when W1AW/ was asking for something that didnt even come close to
his call.....a good op will not respond until the first station hes trying to call
gets thru, thats the way you stop this type of behavior.....if the sending op starts
working the callers that never shut up out of turn, that causes the pileup to get even
further out of control......

Here's a pileup management technique you should consider. It doesn't
matter whether you have a CW, SSB, or RTTY pileup calling. YOU are the
one who sets the cadence. That is your goal (managing the pileup), in
addition to working more stations in less time.

Keep in mind that you don't need to get the entire call sign twice, or
even once. You can increase your rate by picking a few letters from the
"mess"... Maybe you see
