With fewer than 10% of the licensees of the US, Canada does not need to
be concerned with interference issues. Since the advent of wide band
modes (Phone), the FCC has held:

“Separation of emission types by bandwidth minimizes or reduces interference because it protects narrow signals from interference from wide signals. Amateur licensees have accepted this division of spectrum as a method for minimizing interference for as long as the amateur service has been regulated, and no commenter in this proceeding requests eliminating emission segmentation based on bandwidth.”
  - Footnote 89, Report and Order WT 01-104 (2006)

Such policy is as useful today as it was when it was first adopted in
the 1930's.

The Canadian bandwidth restrictions below 28 MHz are 6 kHz (with no mode
sub-bands mentioned in the regs), except for 1 kHz at 30 m and now 2.8
kHz in the 60 m band channels. How refreshingly simple.

Efective January 2014, Canadian Amateur operators are permitted to
operate
on five frequency channels in the 60 meter band.

Industry Canada has granted Amateur Radio operators the use of five 60
meter channels on a non-interference basis. The center-channel
frequencies
harmonize with those available to US radio amateurs on 60 meters: 5332
kHz,
5348 kHz, 5358.5 kHz, 5373 kHz, and 5405 kHz.

Amateur stations will be restricted to USB, data, RTTY and CW modes,
with a
maximum bandwidth of 2.8 kHz, and a maximum power output of 100 W ERP
— the
same the US allows.
