Some of the early RTTY programs (On your trusty TRS-80) would allow the
mark-space cw id as a macro.
Some guys just keyed across a resistor in the 70 mill loop.

The lads today don't know how good they got it !!

I had some of those contacts that sounded like they were using a keyboard
and not a very fast or good typest.
