It is with sadness that I send this e-mail to RTTY community. Jim
Mortensen, N2HOS, became a silent key a few days ago at a hospice in St.
Petersburg, Florida. Jim was the publisher editor of the Digital
Digest, which was an iteration of the RTTY Journal at one point in its
history. Jim did much to try to keep the RTTY Journal going and to
foster digital modes, especially Clover and early iterations of what we
now know as Winlink. I believe he was 87. Born in Montana he saw
action with the 101st Airborne in WWII and then worked in advertising in
NYC and lived in Westchester, NY before moving to Florida. To say he
had an interesting life is an understatement.
I am sure there are many who remember him from years ago although in the
last few years he was not active on the bands.
He will be missed.
73 to Jim....... de Frank...N2FF.....
