This is a great opportunity to introduce newer hams to RTTY and RTTY
contesting. If you have the opportunity to elmer a new ham on RTTY, please do
so.
And please make an effort to operate the warm-up and Rookie Roundup RTTY event.

>The RTTY Rookie Roundup is a short (6 hours), low power (100 watts), contest
>aimed at newer (licensed three years or less) hams. Although all hams are
>invited to participate, commemorative certificates and awards are only
>available for Rookies. The fun starts on Sunday, August 20th at 18:00 utc.
>See the ARRL website ( http://www.arrl.org/rookie-roundup) for contest
>specifics.

>For you RTTY old-timers, this contest is an opportunity to Elmer newer hams
>and introduce them to digital contesting. Somewhere in your circle of
>influence there must be a new ham who could use some help getting a RTTY
>station on the air... or maybe your shack could use a guest operator this
>weekend? ;-)
>
>In preparation for the contest, Rookies and non-Rookies alike are invited to
>exercise their RTTY skills, macros, and computer logging software in an
>hour-long warm-up exercise on Thursday, August 18th at 9:00pm ET, 8:00pm CT,
>7:00pm CT, and 6:00pm PT (that's 01:00 utc on 8/19 for those of you who
>prefer zulu time). Check the ARRL bandplans for the most likely places to
>meet others who are practicing for the contest.
>
>Hope to see you on my RTTY screen this weekend. 73!
