One of the first germanium PNP junction transistors that hams used.

It was followed in later years by the equally ubiquitous 2N107.

Across the pond, the popular transistor among hobbyists was the OC71.   
OC72 if you need a little more more power, and OC45 if you need a to  
go into the "RF" (medium wave broadcast band was about as high they  
could go up to :-).
