One advantage of low tones is that they are much less fatiguing to listen to
all weekend. This works for anyone using FSK with even a single radio.
A second advantage, albeit extremely rare so far in RTTY contesting, is that
you can monitor two radios in one ear by using low tones for one and high
tones for the other and mixing the audio. This allows easy monitoring of up
to four radios. I did that in CQ WPX RTTY this year with three radios (2
K3s and 1 Pro3, all FSK).
