Sounds like a very good solution, as long as the software allows you  
to insert a <FIGS> character.

(cocoaModem has a "Robust" option checkbox -- at the expense of  
sending more characters, it will inject extraneous LTRS and FIGS  
characters at places where they are not absolutely needed.  You  
wouldn't want to turn it on during a contest though, since it does  
slow exchanges down.)
