Why not just use a transmatch from the shack to tune the existing 160
antenna? I have an Ameritron ATR-30 that I've been very happy with, and so
has my 87A.

The Conical Monopole antenna also comes to mind.

.....I think the only reason people group together there is a combination of
tradition and SWR. I'm not aware of any 160m antenna that covers the whole
band with acceptable SWR. If there is one, please let me know. I work some
CW occasionally on 160 and it's all at the low end. I'm open to suggestions
for a high- and low-end antenna.....
KN4LF Says:
The coaxial inverted L can cover the complete 160 meter band within the
1.5:1 limits. Read
about it at: http://www.kn4lf.com/kn4lf3.htm .
Operating above 1900 or 1950 kc is not that simple either. There are lot's
of SSB and AM stations
there in the winter time and there still exists the radiolocation beacons
stations too. Hams are secondary
users between 1900-2000 kc.
