I am hoping somebody can help me. I'm sure this has been covered
somewhere, but I'm not finding what I need.
I'm working with the following setup:
1.2Ghz Windows XP computer,
and a
Collins MDM-2001 multi-mode HF modem
or
Harris RF-5720 mutli-mode HF modem.
The problem:
The Harris and Collins modems interface to the computer through the
asynchronous serial port. Am using standard port settings of 8,1,N
9600 on both sides. Tune a RTTY station and get mostly gibberish. Have
used variety of terminal programs (hypertermal, procomm, and the tnc
window in mixw with same result) Can tune the same station with MixW and
get print. I suspect the problem is both the Harris and Collins modems
are not doing a baudot to ascii conversion before sending down the
serial line to the computer... documention I have on the modem devices
is limited, but nothing in their configuration suggest a baudot
conversion.
What I *think* I need is a terminal program that converts the ascii and
displays baudot. Searhing the internet reveals lots of terminal
programs, but no baudot. I tried all the terminal emulation settings in
procomm and hypertermal (including hyperterminal's TTY setting) with no
luck.
I found one program that appears to be just this, but it appears to be
written for an old dos machine and doesnt work on mine. Can anybody
help?
