Six meters is known as the "Magic Band", but for my money, the real magic band
is 20. During the first five hours of the contest I heard very little DX on any
band, but about two hours after sunset Europe started coming in on 20 here on
the west coast, although weakly. By then, most of the US stations had gone to
bed but 20 gradually opened up to most of the world. I was working Europe, Asia
and South America all over the place, with very few US stations heard. Had
there been more activity, I could have worked all continents in a matter of
minutes.

Sometimes late at night on 20 I feel like the entire band is mine alone, just me
and the rest of the world.

47 years a ham and the magic is still there. :-)
