Re the n9art interface article: be warned that this interface is not really
compatible with any of today's sound-card digital software. The vast
majority of the circuit is a Hamcomm-style interface for old pre-sound-card
DOS programs which do not use a sound card. If you don't need a Hamcomm
interface, this circuit uses up an entire serial port (DSR, DTR, RTS and
TxD) while providing no means for CW or FSK keying, only PTT.
