When YV0D first came up on simplex RTTY on 2-Aug it was a zoo. I got a half
report at 1445z that was covered up with QRM. I guess the QRM got too bad
and they finally went spit. I was not sure of the 1445z contact so made an
insurance RTTY QSO on 3-Aug at 1347z. I thought I had another day to get
the CW contact and gave up on 40 meter CW early this moirning when he signed
JA ONLY. It never entered my mind that WX was going to cancelled the
operation. The guys did a good job considering the short time on the island.
FYI, I noticed the following blurb from the "El Hornet Verde" on USENET on
4-Aug. The cool thing is the link to pictures from the a previous visit at
http://www.qsl.net/dl2gg/Aves/aves1.html.
After viewing the pictures, I understand why they went QRT this morning.
Bad place to be in any WX.
