Hi all,

As you will no doubt know, there is a new contest over the weekend of 6/7
March called the Makrothen contest.

You can use MMTTY alone for this contest if you don't have suitable contest
software, and it will also produce a valid Cabrillo file at the end of the
contest.

To get set up for the Makrothen contest, follow these steps:
Start MMTTY.
Click on File, then Open Log Data File.
Type the name you wish to call this contest, and as it doesn't exist, it
will ask if you wish to create the file. Click Yes.

Now click Options, and then choose Set up Logging.
This shows the INPUT tab.
In the Contest area, check the ON radio button.
Below that is the HisRST area. Check the 599+? radio button.

When making contacts, enter the received WW Locator (first 4 characters
only!) with NO SPACES after the 599 in MyRST.

At the end of the contest, click on File, Open Log Data File, and choose the
contest log.
Highlight all the contacts made, and then click File, Export Selected Range,
and choose Cabrillo file.
It will give you the name of the file, but with a TXT extension.
Click on Save, and note where the file is saved.
It will now ask you Enter contest number which you sent.
Enter the first 4 characters of your locator.
It should now say that it has done this. Click OK, and it will now open this
file for you. Check that it looks OK, and close it.

Now you can go to the folder where your Cabrillo file is saved, and change
the file extension to LOG.
You will need to edit the Cabrillo header to show the correct data, as per
the contest website.

To read more about the Makrothen contest, go to www.qsl.net/dk3vn and follow
the links.

Very best 73 for now
Phil GU0SUP
