Bill, I have the Microsoft optical wheel mouse - it works perfectly. I
use a "regular" mouse pad, but it works fine on the bare table also.
Mine is attached via the USB port - It's hard to remember, but I think
it came with an adapter that lets you attach it to the usual PS/2 port
if needed. It says "USB and PS/2 compatible" right on it. When you're
bored, you can lift it up and shine the red light on the wall! So get
one of these things now so you won't have to clean your balls any more.
