You have overlooked the obvious - it is actually a plot by QualComm to sell
more copies of Eudora email client. I have used Eudora for years and have
never yet picked up a virus or worm that I couldn't immediately identify as
such and thus avoid.
As I understand it (and I am not an expert on modern MS software) the usual
parasitics are meant to attack weak points in the primary email reader,
Outlook Express. Use something else, turn off automatic execution of
incoming email code (MAPI??) and you are relatively safe. At least, it
seems to be working for me.
Norton antirirus stuff came free with my new HP pentium 4 computer, but
locks up the computer 2-3 times per day. I had to remove it.
