We have so far received almost five hundred logs for the 15th Annual CQWW
RTTY contest (September 29-30, 2001), and we are processing them daily.
Results will be published next Spring by the sponsors who are CQ Magazine
and The New RTTY Journal. Before that time, the 8th Annual CQ/RJ WPX
Contest will be run on February 9-10, 2002 and its results will be published
in Summer, 2002. Each of these two RTTY contests receive more entries
annually than any other RTTY contest.

It is now time for those wishing to be sponsors of plaques for either or
both of these contests to speak up and let me know who you are. This year,
we have been able to keep the same plaque design but to reduce its price to
$55 each (instead of $65 as in the past few years), including packing and
postage. Please refer to the contest rules published on www.rttyjournal.com
for a partial list of plaques that may be presented. In addition to those
listed, we will have for the first time plaques in the M/2 class in CQWW.

Please note that plaques will only be sent where sponsors are available.
However, plaques may always be ordered by winners (or their clubs and/or
friends) once the results have been published.

Many of you have been very generous in the past with your sponsorships. I
hope you will continue as sponsors because the plaques are highly valued by
the winners. If you can and wish to continue, please e-mail me at
w6otc@garlic.com advising which plaque you will sponsor and send your check
to me at 488 Locust Street, #401, San Francisco, CA 94118.

One final point. We all owe a great debt to the extraordinary generosity of
Bill Henry (K9GWT) and his two companies, HAL Communications Corp. and The
New RTTY Journal, for their plaque sponsorships in these contests. In the
history of these contests, this group has sponsored more plaques by far than
anyone else. We all owe them our sincere thanks for their strong support
for the sport of RTTY contesting, and for their co-sponsorship of the two
most popular RTTY contests in the amateur radio world. However, the rest of
us also need to step up and do our part in sponsoring plaques for the
contests we all enjoy and not ask Bill to do it all year after year.
Remember, your name, as well as the winner's, will appear on your sponsored
plaque and in the permanent annals of the contest!

73, Glenn, W6OTC
CQWW and CQ/RJ RTTY Contest Director
