Quite some years ago I read an account of a similar event, in the Detroit
area, if memory serves.   All car remotes were jammed out for about a
2-block radius.  If I'm remembering correctly, the culprit was a neon light
in a store-front (a pizza joint, if I'm not mistaken).  This was quite a few
years ago, when car remotes were relatively new.
