Good morning all;
In regards to RFI in a large metropolitan Emergency Operations Center.
Pima County Office of Emergency Management (Tucson Arizona)
Recently completed it's new EOC.
Pima County OEM has an extensive communications department dealing with
Public service, Hospital, 9-1_1, and Police communications as well as HF,
VHF and UHF amateur radio.
While we (RACES) had problems with RFI in an older building that Emergency
Management was previously housed in, Emergency Management solved the
problem of RFI ( in the new location) by using Hard line to all antenna's
and an excellent ground.system designed explicitly for communications.
To prevented interference from Lights, microwaves and various security
systems all power and control lines were specified to be routed through
grounded conduit.
All antennas are at the back of the building on a 50 ft tower, except for
the HF long wire which is stretched across and roughly 20 feet above the
top of the building.
No RFI to our Hf, VHF or UHF radios from internal equipment nor have we
cause any RFI problems when we transmit at 100 watts on 80, 40, or 20
meters.
