Does anyone here know of a noise-less 12 VDC to 110 VAC inverter on the
market?
My neighbor, W6GJB, has a Samlex unit that he says he doesn't hear on
his antennas, but "doesn't hear" depends on how far antennas are from
the noise source and what your background noise is.
Samlex makes several models in several series. The "quieter" ones are
those that carry listing for UL and FCC Part 15 Class B. There are
models rated for 300W, 600W, and 1kW. Model numbers are PST-300-12
(300W, 12VDC to 120VAC), PST-600-12, and PST-1000-12. They are all
listed as "Pure Sine Wave" inverters, and the data sheet says "Low
interference." Last I looked, I could buy the 300W unit for $148 and the
600W unit for $224. I don't remember where I priced them.
Don't interpret this as my recommendation -- I'm reading the data sheet
and telling you W6GJB's experience. :)
