4 turns on a 2.5 inch long type 31 core does nothing I'm not sure what type of core you are referring to. It sounds like it isn't a toroid. However, on a 2.4" OD toroid of type 31 material, 4 turns would be only a couple hundred ohms at 80 meters, probably not enough to do anything useful.
