I stand corrected! :-)
Rephrased: I was taught that germanium transistors
'aged', and that old tubes could develop base leaks -
both happening even when on the shelf - plus traditional
glass tubes suffer damage from overheating thus also
'aging'.
Are any of these sorts of 'aging' also common to nuvistors?
Also, do nuvistors handle aging in use any differently
than traditional glass tubes, or were they engineered
to tolerate long periods inside hot test gear plus
occasional surges and keep-on-going?
Other than size and glass vs metal were one to build
small using subminiature 5977's or 6111 versus nuvistors
would one experience significant differences in audio or
low frequency rf circuits?
