Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2020 Jan 12 1230 UTC.

Solar Activity

24 hr Summary: Solar activity was very low under a spotless solar disk. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed.

Forecast: Solar activity is expected to continue at very low levels on 12-14 Jan.

Energetic Particle

24 hr Summary: Both the greater than 2 MeV electron flux and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux were below event thresholds throughout the period.

Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be at normal to moderate levels on 12 Jan with a chance of reaching high levels on 13-14 Jan. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels over 12-14 Jan.

Solar Wind

24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters were near nominal levels over the period. Solar wind speed averaged in the 400-450 km/s range. Total field ranged from 1-6 nT while the Bz component was between +5/-4 nT. Phi angle was predominantly in a negative solar sector with deviations into a positive sector mostly occurring between 11/1714-2048 UTC.

Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to continue at near-background levels over 12 Jan. An enhancement from the onset of a positive polarity CH HSS is expected late on 13 Jan and persist through 14 Jan.

Geospace

24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet.

Forecast: Mostly quiet conditions are expected on 12 Jan. Late on 13 Jan, unsettled conditions are expected due to the anticipated onset of a positive polarity CH HSS. As influence from the CH HSS continues on 14 Jan, isolated active conditions are likely.
