Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2019 Jan 06 1230 UTC.

Solar Activity

24 hr Summary: Solar activity was low. Region 2732 (N09W85, Bxo/beta) produced the largest flare of the period, a C1 at 06/1051 UTC. Decaying and emerging spots were observed in the trailing section of the region as it began to rotate around the limb. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.

Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at very low levels on 06-08 Jan.

Energetic Particle

24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal levels, and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was steady at background levels.

Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be at normal to moderate levels on 06 Jan, and moderate to high levels on 07-08 Jan in response to a CH HSS. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels on 06-08 Jan.

Solar Wind

24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters, as measured by the DSCOVR spacecraft, indicated continued influence from a negative polarity CH HSS. Total magnetic field strength was at or below 5 nT. Solar wind speeds ranged from 468-544 km/s. Phi angle was oriented in the negative sector.

Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to remain elevated on 06 Jan and into 07 Jan due as CH HSS effects persist. A return to background levels is expected on 08 Jan.

Geospace

24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels.

Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to range from quiet to active levels on 06 Jan as the coronal hole influence persists. Quiet to unsettled levels on 07 Jan are likely to decrease to quiet levels on 08 Jan as influence from the CH HSS wanes.
